Who is this blog for?

I am creating this blog for all stakeholders in Public Education in the United States.  Faculty, Administrators, Board of Education Members, Educational Support Staff, Parents, Community Members and Students are welcome to join me in this movement.  I teach Spanish in a small, first ring suburban school district outside of Buffalo, New York. The latest "Education Reform" movements in our state and our country coupled with the recent economic disasters that many states are facing are causing students in public schools to suffer greatly.  As a teacher and a mother this breaks my heart.  I hear complaints about the state of education in our area and across the country every day but I see very few people doing anything to try and solve the problem.  I am hoping to encourage others to start grassroots Public Education Advocacy groups in their communities that will get the message across to politicians that we have had enough of our government's "let them eat cake" attitude concerning Public Education.  Our nation's children deserve safe, healthy and equitable learning environments.  The problem is that most politicians never went to public school.  They have no idea what public schools need to be successful.  They do not have a grasp of poverty or even how people function in the middle class.  It is time they started listening to ideas from the people who are actually involved in the Public Education process.  Please join me in the fight to save Public Education.
